Viena didžiausių ITT bendrovių Lietuvoje „Penkių kontinentų komunikacijų centras“, šiandien užimanti 10,5 proc. visos šviesolaidžio paslaugų rinkos šalyje, ir toliau investuoja į šviesolaidinio tinklo plėtrą bei modernizavimą. Pirmoji Lietuvoje dar 1997 metais pradėjusi diegti šviesolaidinę interneto prieigą, viso PKKC per pastarąjį dešimtmetį į šviesolaidį yra investavusi per 200 mln. litų. Vien per antrąjį šių metų ketvirtį bendrovės investicijos į šią technologiją siekė daugiau nei 430 tūkst. litų. „Nuolatinės investicijos į naujos kartos šviesolaidinio interneto technologijų plėtrą leidžia užtikrinti „Skynet“ paslaugų kokybę bei prieinamumą gyventojams. Vien per 2010 m. pirmąjį pusmetį prie „Skynet“ tinklo buvo pajungta apie 60 namų“, – teigia Sergej Macanko, „Penkių kontinentų komunikacijų centro“ direktoriaus pavaduotojas.
Šiandien šviesolaidiniu „Skynet“ internetu gali naudotis apie 80 proc. Vilniaus gyventojų. Šiuo metu prie šviesolaidinio „Skynet“ tinklo prijungti Antakalnio, Baltupių, Verkių, Viršuliškių, Žvėryno, Žirmūnų, Jeruzalės, Karoliniškių, Šeškinės, Lazdynų, Naujamiesčio, Pašilaičių, Pilaitės, Šnipiškių, Fabijoniškių, Justiniškių mikrorajonai.
UAB „Penkių kontinentų komunikacijų centras“ pirmoji Lietuvoje ėmė diegti FTTH (Fiber to the Home, liet. šviesolaidžio iki buto, namo ir kt.) technologiją, užtikrinančią ryšio spartą ir nenutrūkstamumą.
„Partnerystė su tokiais ITT sektoriaus profesionalais kaip Cisco, Motorola ir kt., leidžia mums diegti naujausias technologijas bei nuolat tobulinti paslaugų kokybę. Nenustojame didinti interneto spartą privatiems ir verslo klientams, kas taip pat neįmanoma be investicijų. Greitis ir kokybė – tai, į ką mūsų įmonė investuoja jau daugiau nei dešimtmetį“, – teigia Sergej Macanko.
Pasak jo, nuo šių metų rugpjūčio interneto sparta verslo klientams padidėjo net iki 8 kartų ir šiuo metu užsienio tinkluose, priklausomai nuo pasirinkto plano, siekia net iki 80 Mb/s, o Lietuvoje – iki 100 Mb/s. Gyventojai gali naudotis iki 100 Mb/s greičio internetu Lietuvoje, o užsienio tinkluose nuo rugsėjo naršys net iki 90 Mb/s greičiu.
Šviesolaidiniu internetu kompanija taip pat tiekia interaktyviosios IP televizijos, IP telefonijos, būsto valdymo ir saugos paslaugas.
